What time is it Mr. Wolf? (Quelle heure est-il, M. Loup?) is a game of counting (telling time). Participants must be quick when lunchtime arrives, as Mr. Wolf is usually hungry!
Instructions:
There are no materials needed for this game, although it is ideal to play it in a larger space, such as a gymnasium or field outside.
Step 1. Choose one student to be it (the Wolf). The wolf will have his/her back turned to the rest of the players. The rest of the players will be in their home base, this is the only spot where the other players are safe from 'the Wolf.'
Step 2. The students will call out "Quelle heure est-il, M. Loup?" The person who is 'the Wolf' will either respond with a time or by saying "Dîner." If 'the wolf' says a time, the students must take that many steps towards 'the Wolf.' The goal of the game is for the students to pass 'the Wolf' without being tagged and for 'the Wolf' to tag a student.
For example, 'the Wolf' says "C'est deux heures" and the students take two steps towards 'the Wolf.'
Step 3. If 'the Wolf' yells out "Dîner," 'the Wolf' turns around and tries to tag a student before they get back to their home base.
Step 4. The round ends when 'the Wolf' tags a student. This student will then become 'the Wolf' in the next round. The round can also end when the students manage to walk past 'the Wolf' before he/she calls "Dîner." If this happens, 'the Wolf' is to remain in that role during the next round. The game ends when the teacher decides.
